A Week in Winthrop (lining chimney)

Posted by Alexandra Storrs on Wednesday, October 27, 2010, In : A Week in Winthrop

This is one of many pictures taken by the homeowner.  We are very happy to have them, as it is rare for us to get both Dana and Brad in action!  Dana is on the chimney guiding the liner down into the flue while Brad is holding the liner steady.  To see previous pictures of this job http://www.dmstorrschimney.com/our-soot-stories/a-week-in-winthrop-rebuild-complete-

A Week in Winthrop (part one of rebuild)

Posted by Alexandra Storrs on Thursday, October 21, 2010, In : A Week in Winthrop

Here we are it is day one of the rebuilding process.  The chimney nor the flashing is complete.  Dana still has to add the corbel and the crown to the top of the chimney.  He also needs to finish the flashing.  Notice how the flashing is stepped and inserted into the mortar joints of the chimney.  To see how the chimney looked before he got started http://www.dmstorrschimney.com/our-soot-stories/a-week-in-winthrop-chimney-before-

Charlestown Rebuild day 1

Posted by Alexandra Storrs on Tuesday, July 27, 2010, In : Charlestown Rebuild

When the roofer pulled back the rubber roofing, this is what he found!!  Look closely at the base of the chimney, absolutely no mortar joints to speak of.  The brick are already starting to collapse down, it was swaying as they removed the brick from the top of the chimney.  One good push & the chimney would have fallen 45' to the ground.  People don't worry about what they can't see.  To see most recently completed rebuild click here http://www.dmstorrschimney.com/our-soot-stories/chimney-co...
