Ground Up Rebuild Norton (day 2, con't)

Thankfully our masonry supplier delivers!  Here he is off loading a pallet of clay tile liner sections.  As Dana rebuilds the chimney new clay tile liner sections are installed, they are joined together using mortar & the brick is laid up around them.  The larger clay tiles are for the fireplace flue & the smaller ones are for the heating flue.  To see photos of the chimney coming down click

Ground Up Rebuild in Norton (day 2)

 It is the beginning of day 2 on this project & as you can see, the chimney is almost completely torn down to the ground.  We tarped over the exposed flues overnight to keep out visitors. The upcoming photos will show the progression of the new chimney being built.  By the end of day five this ground up rebuild is complete.  Dana laid an average of 500 brick/day.  It helps to have such dedicated "tenders" to mix mortar & move material.
